Travel Influencers

Time is precious these days and I am spending a lot less time on YouTube and Instagram.  However I love to keep up with travel related content and I do that by following travel influencers.  They create content about travel, tourism and culture, usually sharing their travel experiences. They establish communities of like-minded followers who discuss travel and provide advice and information to each other as well. Seek out travel influencers that resonate with you and inspire your travel dreams. These are my top picks:

Cruise Tips TV

Sheri and her family are California based cruise content creators focused on providing practical tips and advice to new and seasoned cruisers. CruiseTipsTV’s audience enjoys following Sheri and her family as they travel the world by ship creating travel films. Sheri has visited destinations like Japan, Mexico, Alaska, Europe and the Caribbean, and has experienced 40 cruises on 6 cruise lines.

Why I like their content - CTTV’s YouTube videos are well produced and edited.  They offer great information on all things cruise related from cruise vlogs to packing videos.  They offer a cruise course for new cruisers or as a refresher for seasoned cruisers that offers great value.  Sheri’s always cheery and positive demeanour make her such a pleasure to watch.  They also have a podcast, CruiseTipsTV Unplugged, where her husband, known at Mr. CTTV is her co-host.  A new episode airs every Wednesday.  I really love their podcast!

It’s The Kelly’s

Lauren and Brian are on a mission to help you travel often and pack well.  They are passionate about packing light and efficiently in carry-on luggage only.  Lauren has a lot of travel tips and packing hacks that are extremely useful.  They both have full time careers outside of travelling and make amazing videos that show they understand how travel fits into real life.

Why I like their content - I love the fun energy Lauren brings to her luggage reviews, packing videos and vlogs.  I think the luggage reviews are the best out there because Lauren measures the luggage inside and out.  She shows you what will fit including a “shoe test” that includes a pair of her husband’s size 13 shoes.  Watch videos of Lauren putting luggage to the size test in airports too.  Nothing is worse than having to check your carry-on because it doesn’t meet the airline standards!

Cruise with Ben and David

Two guys from the UK who love cruising so much that they started making videos about it. They started the Cruise with Ben and David channel on YouTube in 2015, and it has since grown to over 180,000 subscribers.

.

Why I like their content - Ben and David post very regular professional looking content with cruise blogs, ship tours and cruise reviews.  They are very honest and straightforward about what they do and do not like.  The information Ben and David provide leaves no question unanswered.  They sail a variety of cruise lines that I feel can benefit viewers to compare and contrast the different lines.  Ben’s quips like “Well blow me out and call me a candelabra” are always hilarious and I always look forward to them in their videos.

Naick and Kim

A couple from Belgium who quit their professional jobs to travel the world while they work freelance jobs to support their travel obsession.  Now you can find them living the van life on a trip that has taken them from Halifax, Nova Scotia all the way up to Alaska for one of the world’s coolest road trips - The Pan American Highway.  Final stop -Ushuaia, Argentina

Why I like their content - Naick and Kim show what travel is really like.  From amazing days exploring new areas to the hard times that other travel influencers leave out.  Their content has amazing drone shots and often really funny moments. Their relationship is magnetic which draws you in so you crave more of their excellent videos.  You will also see Naick cooking the most incredible meals in a van or on an open fire!!!

Sailing La Vagabonde

A young and vibrant family of four living on a catamaran, and soon a trimaran, sailing around the world.  Riley and Elayna are currently heavily involved in the  process of having their dream trimaran being built in Vietnam and plan to set sail for the Southern Ocean.

Why I like their content - I love everything about the ocean, being on it, being in it and looking at it.  Elayna and Riley create amazing videos that show us all of that.  Watching them sail around the world, while raising their children in a unique environment, they demonstrate what it’s like to live on a boat and travel to beautiful destinations.  While they look very relaxed you also observe their nautical skills like their keen knowledge of navigation and weather and all that ocean-y stuff I simply do not understand!

Downie Live

Michael Downie is a Canadian YouTuber who explores the world to bring travel videos all about unique and interesting transportation methods.  You can watch informative and fun videos about  trains, longboats, ferries and more.

Why I like his content - Michael shows an exuberant personality during his travel adventures. I especially love his train videos and you will too if you are a bit of a train geek.  He thoroughly explains and shows you the train inside and out - even the bathrooms! He groups his videos into well laid out playlists that are easy to find on his YouTube channel.
